"It was all a dream come true."
Take a special look into HGS designer & founder's special day- and her own experience designing her custom wedding dress.
Design Process
When it came to the dress she was going to walk down the aisle in, Hanna realized she would not be able to find just anything off the racks. A creative at heart, Hanna's experience of being a designer led her to always express her personal style - which was especially important on her wedding day.
"I had gone to so many bridal boutiques in Miami, Los Angeles, and Santo Domingo and tried on innumerable, beautiful gowns. There was always something not quite right. I should have known from the start that I would need to design and create my own wedding dress. This is how the HGS custom experience came to life. I was my own first bride."
I'm almost sure my breath caught the moment I saw this light ivory lace detailed with small 3D flowers and leaves, white beads, and subtle translucent sequins. The timeless silhouette of the mermaid bridal gown itself was created to showcase the fabric. Every single flower was removed from the original lace and placed exactly where I wanted it. If you look closely, you'll notice the placement is thoughtful to make it feel organic and flattering to my shape. My long chapel cathedral-length veil also had little flowers lining the edges all the way around.
I had a team of seamstresses working on these little flowers for months.
It was all a dream come true."
Decor & Venue
Hanna's ceremony took place in a traditional church built in 1555, Iglesia Las Mercedes in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, with a dreamy twinkling reception that followed in the adjacent colonial Spanish courtyard.
"My personal style is very much timeless and sophisticated with a fun twist. I knew the decor had to feel like myself and my now-husband.
The night began with tropical greenery and white flowers, golden dim lighting, and champagne. As the night progressed the live band turned the reception into a major scene! A DJ followed and we all danced until 4:00 AM, with fun colorful party props and a gelato stand for a late-night snack."
"I wore the one dress throughout it all. I had put so much love into every detail through the custom experience, I wanted to live every moment of this incredible day in my gown. I will forever be in love with my wedding dress."
